My name is Lisa Berbynuk and I am the owner of Closet Cravings upscale Consignment Boutique and gift shop Inc. Opening this store had been a dream of mine for a long time. I had discussed it with family and friends sporadically over the years even dreaming of the the way I wanted it to look and the desired location. I loved the idea of a new person getting the chance to love an item another person had pre loved, or maybe you bought it but never did wear it. A common story among us women.

I am a firm believer in recycling and revamping clothing, jewellery and purses into new and chic looks. As a struggling mom of 2, I wasn’t financially able to be brave and take the risk of a new business venture for many years but I continued to dream. Sometimes in life an opportunity presents itself and you don’t let the fear step in and stop you. A sequence of events occurred and I found myself at a crossroads. Sometimes something you originally thought was a huge set back in your career turns out to be a blessing in disguise.

During this time, the right location became available and with a big push from my father I decided to take the plunge. I had worked in retail when i was younger before, during and after University while obtaining my degree but I had spent the majority of the last 15 years working in a spinal cord and brain injury clinic as an office manager and rehab therapist. I had the support of many wonderful people in my life and I decided to take a leap of faith. The building was secured and the renovations began. My father and I started searching for racks, tables and cases for the store while friends and friends of friends started collecting beautiful items to consign in my store. I was on my way and very excited.

Over the next several weeks my world took some hard hits. My father, my biggest advocate and best friend in life died unexpectedly and the store was put on hold. The hits kept on coming over the next few months but I had to find strength and persevere for me, my children and my father. I had amazing people pushing me on and helping me every step of the way. It takes an army to run a business and I could not do this without my family and friends. I am forever grateful.

I love going to work everyday and meeting different people and helping them find the perfect item they are looking for. I love seeing the smiles on happy customers faces. I strive to do better everyday. I hope you're proud dad.
