Jaana Wycisk is a proud and passionate advocate for safer skincare and beauty products. While living and teaching in Germany, she discovered that North American cosmetic safety standards were seriously lacking. In Europe, there are approximately 1,400 chemicals banned from use in cosmetics. In Canada that number is closer to 500 and the United States has only partially banned 30 of those chemicals.
Jaana’s educational background inspired her to research all of her options and that’s when she learned about Beautycounter. Beautycounter’s mission is to “get safer products into the hands of everyone” and they are actively lobbying for safer laws in North America. Beautycounter has a list of over 1,500 potentially toxic chemicals that they refuse to use in their products.
After living in Germany for the better part of 12 years, Jaana and her husband decided it was time to come home to Canada. Although she was originally from Thunder Bay, they moved back to Windsor in May of 2017, where they have decided to settle. Jaana Wycisk is happily married with three children, her son Jaakko born March 2009, daughter Addyson born December 2011, and her second son Wyatt, born April 2015.
